Black Works Studio is a boutique brand from Nicaragua founded in 2015 by James Brown under the Ovaja Negra factory in Esteli. The brand was created as a kind of “creation laboratory” for bold blends, small editions and cigars with a unique and unconventional character. The brand is identified with a more artistic and experimental approach, which includes the wide use of a variety of wrappers from different regions of the world, alongside unconventional combinations of several wrappers in the same cigar. Black Works Studio is particularly known for working with Candela wrappers in combination with other wrappers such as San Andres, Cameron, Habano and Broadleaf, to create complex, original profiles with a very strong identity. The brand’s cigars are produced in relatively small quantities, with an emphasis on creativity, depth, rich smoke and meticulous construction, while maintaining a raw, dark and uncompromising style that is identified with the entire factory.
